We’re a Christian church with a Lutheran heritage. Like a Harbor, our church is both a refuge and a starting point. It’s a place where the storms of life can be endured, and where faith is strengthened for the journey ahead. At Harbor, restless souls find rest in Jesus.

About Harbor

Finally the church found a place to call home and moved into 11 Brookline Street. God has blessed our church and we can’t wait to see what things He has planned for our future!

2025

As a few more joined the group, they started temporarily gathering in an industrial co-working space in Cambridge. Gradually, the book club became Bible study, and then bible study became a full worship service.

2024

Pastor Josh Koelpin was assigned to plant a church in the Boston area. Pastor and his wife began meeting with a handful of people and started a book club in their living room.

A Christian Church

First and foremost we are a Christian church. A Christian church believes and teaches that no amount human effort or works can possibly earn God’s favor or lead to eternal life. Thankfully, God’s love caused him to send his Son Jesus Christ to live and die for us. God offers forgiveness and salvation to the whole world as free gifts. Everyone who puts their trust in Christ as their Savior will be saved.

We are also a Lutheran church. Even though we don’t worship Martin Luther the man, we believe the truths that Martin Luther reclaimed for the church at the time of the Reformation. These truths can be summarized with the Latin expression: sola gratia, sola fide, sola scriptura. Lutherans believe that our salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, on the basis of Scripture alone. We are affiliated with the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod.

We believe the Bible isn’t just an old book full of rules — it’s God’s living and active Word (Hebrews 4:12). It tells the true story of who God is, who we are, and what he’s done to rescue us. We trust the Bible because it’s where God speaks clearly, showing us his promises and his heart. In a world full of noise and opinions, Scripture gives us something solid and unchanging to build our lives on (Matthew 7:24-27).

At Harbor, we believe that God’s grace is a gift freely given, not earned, by faith in Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:9–9). He gives us this gift through his Word & Sacraments, including baptism & holy communion. We believe that Church is more than a place or an hour in your week. Guided by God’s Word, we come together to encourage one another and grow in our knowledge of God's grace as we look forward to an eternity spent with Him.

Faith isn’t about having everything figured out or holding your life together perfectly. It’s about trust — resting in what Jesus has already done for you (Hebrews 11). Salvation isn’t about us climbing up to God; it’s about God coming down to us (Philippians 2:4–11). Faith simply receives what Jesus has already won.

At the center of everything is Jesus. He’s not just a wise teacher, guru, or celebrity. He's your flesh-and-blood Savior who came to earth to live and die for you. (John 3:16–17). Your hope isn’t found in vague spirituality, success, or self-improvement — it’s found in Christ alone.

Please bring your kids! We know it can be tough to bring kids to church, but we value having them here... even if they make noise. We do have a children's room if you need to step out with them during the service.
